What is H.265 10bit and how it is different from other formats?

TL;DR: High quality video with minimum file size.

High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) is also known as H.265. It's a video compression standard like the commonly used Advanced Video Coding (AVC or H.264). In comparison to AVC, HEVC offers from 25% to 50% better data compression at the same level of video quality, or substantially improved video quality at the same bit rate.

10-bit refers to range of available colors that can be displayed in the video. In more technical terms, an 8-bit file works with RGB using 256 levels per channel, while 10-bit jumps up to 1,024 levels per channel. This makes it possible to retain better color accuracy when encoding the video, even with the compression.
